Did you know?

1. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the 10th ofNisan (Nisan is a month on the Jewish religious calendar), which we callPalm Sunday. To the Jewish people, this day was known as"Lamb Selection Day* (John 12:1, 12).

2. The lambs that were the focal pointof Passover were brought into Jerusalem on the 10th of Nisan to be sacrificed in the Temple on Passover, the 14th of Nisan (Exodus 12:3-6).

3. Eachlamb was inspected for 4 days as they had to be spotless, without blemish. Ifno blemishes were found, the lamb was slain on the 14th day of Nisan--the first day of Passover (Exodus 12:5-6).

4. After riding into Jerusalem on a colt ofa donkey, Jesus was scrutinized for 4 days and found blameless--without blemish. Finding Him to be without fault wereHerod (Lk 23: 14-15), Pilate (Lk 23:4,14 andMatt 27:24), the Sanhedrin (Matt 26:59-60), the thief on the cross (Lk 23:40-42), andJudas (Matt 27:4).

5. On the 14th of Nisan, in accordance with Exodus 12, because Jesus was found blameless--without spot or blemish -- at 9 a.m., as the animal Passover lambs were being brought into the Temple to be slain, our perfect Passover Lamb, Jesus, was nailed to a wooden cross (Matthew 26:1-2).

6. At 3 p.m., as the last Passover lamb was killed by thepriest in the Temple, Jesus cried outfrom thecrossin victory, "It is finished"-- and He gave up His spirit (John 19:30).

7. God's plan of redemption is perfect. We are redeemed in Jesus of Whom it was said, "Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29).

THE BATTLE RAGES

God’s end time program revolves around Israel.  And so, the battle rages.  Yes, the battle rages…BUT GOD has opened another door through a weekly outreach at ASU/Arizona State University.   Manning a table on campus with the message of “I Found Shalom” has produced fruit as we engage students in dialogue.   Day 1 on campus: the first student, a young woman, stood at a distance reading with interest what we had displayed.    Though not yet a believer in Jesus, she was open to conversing and we were most open in sharing Jesus. Our vocalizing God’s plan for Israel and our knowledge of the Old Testament prompted her to invite us to join her table on campus which supports Israel.   Without hesitation, this young Jewish woman offered her contact information and we began to Email.   Stimulating dialogue with several students and our gathering contact information marked the first day.   That evening I connected with several venues in search of a room where we might hold Bible studies

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON...

Eccl. 3:1 – To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven… . “A time to; a time for”….  Some explain the repetitiveness as a reminder of the relentless monotony of life!?  Conversely, I’m reminded by this Scripture that life is bustling with activity for God’s glory!   During the summer the Jewish ministry seems to reveal additional purposes.   While deadlines are always in the picture, there seem to be less between May and August.   Consequently, at this time, ministry aspirations grow as I prayerfully and excitedly ponder.   The result…either new thrusts and/or undeveloped layers are added onto existing ministry adventures!      In May I arrived at one of the retirement centers hours prior to the weekly Bible study.   This has been my pattern since 2005 which has afforded opportunities to visit Jewish residents in their apartments.   Of late, however, fewer have responded to my knocking on their doors.   Where are they?   On this day in May 2019

WRITE YOUR OWN STORY!

The card was staring me in the face!  I gazed back and said, “I LOVE this card!”  I am so thankful for the story that God has given me.  It’s the story of Jesus in my life and the thrill of sharing Him with others. We each have stories.  We each have adventures.  How imperative it is to relish the life episodes that come with our name emblazoned on them…from God! This blog is entitled “Ministry Adventures with Cathy.”  How would you define an “adventure”?  Adventure means “an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous experience or activity.”  “Escapade” is a synonym for adventure.  Escapade means “an act or incident involving excitement or daring.”  Really?  Hazardous and daring?  Perhaps I should change the name of the blog.  Although….
