Global Emphasis at Bethany Bible

This past Sunday, 10/25, concluded Bethany Bible Church’s Global Emphasis Week (aka missions conference).  The “week” equated to nine days.  But, who’s counting?  I was sad to see it come to a close.  The event was a labor of love on the part of the entire church!  And truly, it was a most blessed time of getting to know and fellowship with ministry partners around the globe and in Phoenix, as well as with the dear people of Bethany Bible!  Quite truthfully, over the years it’s been difficult for me to participate in local missions conferences due to the fact that the field of service to which God has called me is – local.  Ministry in the Phoenix metropolitan area does not come to a halt when there’s a missions conference in the Valley.  This time, however, praise God, I was able to participate in every event at Bethany’s Global Emphasis Week.  And, I am “oh so thankful” to have done so.

While speaking at a focus group during the conference, the hostess for the event shared with the people who gathered to hear about the Jewish ministry that she, a Gentile, came to faith in Jesus through reading a Chosen People Ministries’ magazine!  That is SO OF GOD!  Think of Jesus’ words to the Samaritan woman at the well: “Salvation is of the Jews.”  Of course – because the Messiah for the world, JESUS, came through the Jewish line!

At that same focus group we met a couple who was so jazzed to know about how they can approach a Jewish in-law as well as Jewish friends for whom they are burdened.

During a Sunday school class at Bethany Bible, God gave me the opportunity to share what HE is doing in Jewish lives and hearts.  From Romans 11:11 we understand that Gentile believers in Jesus are responsible to provoke the Jew to jealousy – to make them jealous to know their God.   One of the men in the class told me afterwards that upon hearing about God’s work among Jewish people and our responsibility, he is now going to pursue a General Contractor position over a building project for a synagogue in Phoenix!  He’s excited!  I’m praying for much fruit!

Another lovely connection at the Global Emphasis Week with missionaries from my grandparents’ town in. . . Read More in the October, 2015 newsletter when it hits your Email.
